Final Exam

The final exam will be an opportunity to do comparative and contrast thinking about the different texts that we have read in our class.  During the semester many different topics of comparison will likely arise.  I hope that we will develop questions for the final during the semester, and that our class discussion will generate many specific ideas and examples for considering these questions.

About a week before the exam is scheduled, working with the class I will create a list of about 8 exam questions.  I will share the list with the class and encourage you to meet with other students to consider and prepare answers.  Then, at the time of the final exam, I will select 3 questions from the list and ask you to write on two of them without using notes.

Your grade on the final will depend on the quality of your ideas and evidence that you have carefully read all of the texts and thought about the issues we are exploring.
