Climate Writing
As our class explores climate change and climate literature, this assignment allows you to experiment as a climate writer and critic and share your work with the world, via the website our class will create, Climate-Writing.com.
Reading Our Final Warning you and other members of the class have been thinking of possible cliamte writing ideas. As the semester proceeds and we immerse ourselves in examples of cli-fi novels, short stories, flash fiction (ENVS 4120 flash memoir assignment), poetry, and place-based creative nonfiction. You will also try your hand at different types of climate writing.
By the end of the semester you will publish at least two different works of climate writing on the website, and also your final project of cli-fi literary analysis or cli-fi curriculum.
The important work we are doing in this seminar will thus be available for others to appreciate, and learn from, thus making some contribution to addressing the climate crisis.
